In 2023, Isuroon was awarded the Local Food Procurement Assistance (LFPA) Grant, a significant step in expanding our ability to provide culturally appropriate food to the community. One of our primary goals was securing a reliable source of Halal meat for our Food Shelf, and Cindy Hale played a crucial role in making that vision a reality.
As a dedicated Grant Specialist with extensive experience in licensing and food procurement, Cindy became a vital ambassador for our initiative. We connected with Mohamed G from Chicken Head Farm, hoping to source Halal meat through his farm. However, to proceed, Chicken Head Farm needed to undergo an inspection by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture’s Dairy and Meat Inspection Division.
Understanding the urgency of this need, Cindy took swift action. She advocated for prioritizing the inspection with her management team, ensuring that the necessary approvals were expedited. Thanks to Cindy and her team’s efforts, Chicken Head Farm successfully passed inspection, allowing Isuroon to provide Halal meat to the many families who depend on our Food Shelf.
