Family Health = Family Wealth
Strengthening Somali Families in Minnesota
Our Mission
To improve the health and well-being of Somali families in Minnesota by providing culturally responsive and innovative services that address cultural differences, barriers, and system barriers.
The Challenge
Somali families in Minnesota face significant health disparities due to cultural differences, barriers, and system barriers. These disparities result in poor health outcomes, reduced quality of life, and increased healthcare costs.
Our Solution
The “Family Health = Family Wealth” program addresses these challenges through a comprehensive and innovative approach that includes:
Doula Services: Prenatal, labor, and postpartum support provided by trained Somali doulas.
Community Health Worker (CHW) Support: Health education, navigation, and support provided by trained Somali CHWs.
Family Spirit Health Education: Child development education, resource navigation, and support provided by trained Somali Family Spirit community health workers.
Financial Literacy and Time Management Training: Financial literacy education and time management training to help families improve their economic stability.
Our Goals
- Improve health outcomes and reduce health disparities for Somali families.
- Increase access to early interventions and promote healthy development and well-being.
- Enhance economic stability and self-sufficiency for Somali families.
